Race Website for the NITRO 10K & 5K at the Sycamore Speedway

Help Sycamore Speedway and the Northern Illinois Trail Runners Organization (NITRO) raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Illinois by taking part in the Sycamore Speedway NITRO 10K run, 5K run/walk, or Kids Race. Course

The 5K and 10K events begin and end at the Sycamore Speedway behind the grandstands.  The Kids Race is entirely on the Speedway track.   After they start, the 5K and 10K are run on the Great Western Trail.  The trail is essentially an unpaved bike path.  It's smooth, straight, and flat and consits mostly of a crushed limestone surface.  This is a fast, flat, and scenic course.  Walkers and Strollers are welcome as long as they start behind the runners.  No dogs please.

Technical Shirt

5K and 10K Runners receive a premium grey technical race t-shirt with a red/white/blue design.   Sorry, T-shirt not included for Kids Race 

Support and Goodies

All runners get course support, goody bag, postrun food, raffle entry, and a free family pass to the evening races/demo derby.  Oh, and indoor restrooms.

Kids Race

A quarter mile kids race will take place on the historic Sycamore Speedway track.  This race is at 10:30 and is $5/child on race day.  Parents may accompany their children, or cheer from the grandstands.  Kids racers get race numbers, ribbons, and a chance for trophies.  

Post Race

Post race festivities include a $5 barbeque lunch (proceeds go to charity) and beer (1 free beer per runner).  Stick around for Raffle and post-race massages & rolling from Northern Rehab.

Awards and Prizes

10K 1st Place Male & Female $75, 2nd Place Male and Female $50, 3rd Place Male and Female $25. 

5K 1st Place Male & Female $40, 2nd Place Male and Female $25, 3rd Place Male and Female $15.

Overall placers (1st - 3rd) in both races also recieve a trophy.

Age Group prizes, 3 deep in both races, in the following ranges 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over.

Age group prizes are custom designed NITRO pint glass

5k award ceremony at 10:00 am

10k award ceremony to follow the 10:30 kids race. 

Raffle to follow kids race and results.  Open to all runners and volunteers
